“I set off in the dark from my hotel for the 20 minute walk along the coastline to arrive at this location. I wanted to capture the precise moment when the light becomes soft enough to blend the sea and sky together. Finding a pier that looks this raw and authentic is getting harder, so I focused on the textures of the planks. I kept my tripod low to emphasize the leading lines drawing the eye toward the sunrise. The silence was the most striking part of the experience. I barely moved for twenty minutes just to soak in the tranquility before opening the shutter for 30 seconds to give that frosted glass-like quality to the sea.”
