The sloping Church Rock outcrop in Pembrokeshire, Wales, rises sharply from the sea. This jagged limestone stack stands as a lonely sentinel against the vast Bristol Channel. It sits just off the coast of Broad Haven South beach. The rock earns its name from its distinct, steeple-like silhouette.
The atmosphere here feels is ancient and restless. Deep blue water swirls around the base made soft and ethereal with a long exposure. This coastal region is famous for its dramatic geology and coastal scenery. The weathered rock formations have endured the relentless energy of the Atlantic Ocean.
A bird perches on the highest point, representing the only sign of life in this misty, maritime world. Time seems to slow down as the waves blur into a smooth, silky texture. The cool tones and minimalist composition offers a timeless quality.

“I spent the morning walking the coastline in glorious weather, looking for this location. The long exposure turned the choppy waves into a calm, blue fog. A tripod and ND filter were, of course, essential, and my 240mm lens had just enough reach to frame the famous Church Rock.
I wanted to capture the contrast between the sharp stone and the soft water. Standing on the cliffs, I felt very small compared to these ancient formations. It was a peaceful moment of connection with the rugged Welsh coast.”
