The iconic, jagged silhouette of Tryfan mountain in North Wales dominates the horizon. This peak stands as a rugged sentinel within the Ogwen Valley of Snowdonia National Park. On the opposite side of the valley a mountain stream carves a path through ancient stones. The water appears as a silky ribbon of mist due to a long exposure. Low clouds hang heavy over the Glyderau range, casting a soft, moody light across the landscape. The vibrant green grass contrasts sharply with the cold, grey lichen-covered boulders in the foreground.
There is a profound sense of stillness here. This place evokes a feeling of timelessness and raw natural power. Tryfan mountain is the true subject, towering over the valley with an imposing presence. Nature is in a state of quiet motion, where the rush of the stream meets the stillness of the stone.
Photographer’s Note
“After hiking up from the valley, I spent nearly an hour searching for the right composition. I wanted the stream in the foreground to lead the eye directly toward the sharp peak of Tryfan. I used a neutral density filter to slow down the shutter speed to about 30 seconds. This allowed me to capture that ethereal, flowing effect in the water. It also gave a slight blur to the clouds. The ground was soggy next to the stream, and I got wet feet, but it was worth it
