Welcome

My name is Derek. I used to teach physics. These days I chase light through places like Hong Kong and Bangkok instead — photographing the quiet corners and unexpected faces most people walk straight past on their way to somewhere else. Read more…

Every image in these galleries started the same way they always do: just me, a camera, and somewhere far from a classroom. This site is where that work lives — not as a print behind glass, but as a file you can make your own.

Downloads start at US$4.99 for personal use. Commercial licences are available for a few dollars more.

What’s in the Galleries

Two main threads run through the collection. Fine art images built around mood, stillness, and composition. Urban photography that finds structure and story in city streets.

Download a file and you’re getting the same frame I saw through the viewfinder: full resolution, ready for printing, design work, or whatever you’re making. Usage terms are on the Licencing page — worth a quick read before you download, especially for commercial projects. Each image is available as an immediate digital delivery, providing a seamless way to acquire professional-quality art for your creative needs.

Every photograph is edited to maintain the integrity of the scene. By choosing these original downloads, you gain access to unique, independent photography that stands out from generic stock libraries, offering a distinct aesthetic for your next personal or professional project.

A Note on AI

Every photograph on this site is a real moment I was actually there for. Nothing here is AI-generated, and nothing is a composite built from multiple images.

I use ordinary editing tools — adjusting exposure, colour, and crop — the same kind of work photographers have always done in the darkroom or in Adobe Lightroom. I do utilize AI tools solely for precise editing and cleanup. This includes “Generative AI Removal” to delete unwanted distractions, such as litter, power lines, or sensor dust, to better reflect the natural beauty of the scene as I experienced it. These tools are used only to refine existing photographs, not to alter the fundamental reality or subject matter of the composition. What you won’t find is AI standing in for the camera. If a scene didn’t happen in front of my lens, it isn’t on this site.
