Twilight Bangkok is a stunning visual of the city’s transition into the night. A golden highway cuts through the dense urban sprawl of Thailand’s capital city. This winding road acts as a luminous artery. It connects the quiet residential blocks to the towering commercial skyscrapers.
Dense, moody storm clouds loom heavily over the horizon. These deep grey clouds contrast sharply against the warm orange glow of the streetlights. The atmosphere feels electric and expectant. You can almost smell the rain before it falls. The cityscape stretches endlessly toward the dark sky.
Traffic moves steadily as the work day ends, including the Sky Train, which is visible towards the bottom of the shot. High-rise condominiums stand like silent sentinels overlooking the busy neighborhoods. This moment captures the quiet tension between the calm city lights and the coming rain.
As you can see, this photograph makes a spectacular mobile phone wallpaper. I particularly like how it works well with my iPhone liquid user interface.

Photographer’s Note
“This photograph was taken from the Sky Bar by Lebua (featured in the movie The Hangover Part II) and cost me a very expensive glass of wine! The storm was moving in fast from the west. I wanted to capture how the artificial gold of the city fights back against the natural gloom of the sky. It felt like the whole city was holding its breath. Although I didn’t know at the time, the condominium in the foreground on the right became my home.”
